William Shakespeare, playwright of Macbeth, shows the importance that power and corruption can hold on a person’s humanity. In order to prove the true effect of personal gains, he uses the main character, Macbeth, to show how evil people are willing to become.
And upon hearing that Macbeth had been visited by witches who saw Macbeth as king, she used every last resort to thrust her husband into power, by use of murder (of the king), blackmail and fraud. This is a perfect example of corruption, because as soon as she felt the tingle of power, she was lusting for more.

Corruption in Macbeth Power has the ability to destroy one's nature. Thus, making one capable to do many things he would not normally do, unless power has been an influence. Once Macbeth realizes that he has power, he becomes a person of corruption. This power he attains allows him to commit many sins in order to become King of Scotland.
Power and Corruption in Macbeth “Authority poisons everybody who takes authority upon himself” (Vladimir Ilyich Lenin). This could easily be a comment on the story of Macbeth where an apparently respected Scottish couple have the opportunity to seize the highest authority, take it, and in doing so, poison themselves and their country.
Macbeth’s power comes from his capacity for extreme brutality. Lady Macbeth exceeds him in cruelty but she has an incapacity for action. “valour of her tongue” is her power through which she furthers her intentions.The play shows us that power acquired in such a way has severe consequences.
By looking at Macbeth’s personality as the play progresses it can be seen that Shakespeare did not intend to suggest that power corrupts. Macbeth is in a position of power at the start of the play, and yet we are introduced to him through the speech of other characters saying how respected and morally good he is, such as in Duncan’s exclamation of “O valiant cousin!
